healthy & green living on a budget

How this idea came to be…

So, there I was rocking my 13 month old daughter to sleep and watching the day’s news. The host of the news show opened with “…two of the few companies to post earnings this quarter were McDonald’s and Walmart.” He went on to discuss more job losses and the tight credit market. To me, this showed that people are looking for inexpensive ways to eat and live. Since the economy is in turmoil and families are living off of less, I think a weekly blog that helps families stretch their money would be helpful. Healthy, green and inexpensive living and eating will be the focus of this blog Back to Basics.

I will post once a week to all or one of the categories. The Categories will be Food, Garden, Living, and (eventually) Coupons. Food will give you inexpensive  and/or cost saving recipes. Garden will give you ideas about how to garden or what things I do in my garden. Living will focus on small things you can do to save money or help stretch your dollar. And, eventually, Coupons will feature coupons to area restaurants and markets. I think this section is important because, even though this economy sucks (for lack of a better word) we should still (if we can) find time to go out as a family, couple or just treat ourselves.

I am new to this blogging thing so bare with me. I hope you find this blog useful!
